Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that develops in the thin membrane lining of the lungs, abdomen, chest, and heart. Mesothelioma is exclusively related to individuals exposed to asbestos fibers.

Lung Cancer is the leading cause of death among individuals exposed to asbestos. Mining or manufacturing workers are by far the leading population diagnosed with lung cancer. Common symptoms of lung cancer are coughing and changes in breathing patterns. Those suffering from lung cancer may also experience shortness of breath, anemia, chest pain, and hoarseness.

Asbestosis is non-cancerous but a very serious and chronic respiratory disease. Asbestos fibers that had been inhaled even decades in the past disrupt lung tissue, which causes scarring. Individuals with asbestosis may experience dry cackling noises while breathing and shortness of breath.
